Hi! My name is Joy Stasiuk-Mahaffey and this is my first time blogging. My goal is to step out of my comfort zone and share some of my best lessons and techniques that have worked in my music classrooms and in my former band rooms. I want my students to experience joy and excitement as while they are in my classroom. I want to make their school year a great one to remember. My higher education began at Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky in the percussion department. I taught middle school band/high school band and middle school music classes for 3 years in Kentucky. I have also taught 5 years of band in the great state of Texas. The last 14 years have been spent in Virginia Beach, Virginia in the K-5 classroom while teaching drumlines in the area. Enjoy this blogging journey with me!
